Workforce Housing

Workforce Housing was designed to meet the demand for dense, urban dwellings with easy access to downtown jobs for this city's growing population. It pulls inspiration from the modern iconic high-rises and allows the rigidness to deform with the will of its inhabitants.The two neighborhood masses are separated by the courtyard floor. In the modern icon, the grid exists as strict and rigid. In this model, the force of the masses separating creates a tearing or a warping of that unrelenting grid. The shearing shifts the upper mass off center and to the north allowing sunlight to enter deeper into the courtyard. The grid warps and the transformation causes the rigidness to shift towards organic.
