bSIDE6

bSIDE6 is a 7-story commercial workstudio building with ground floor retail space. The building utilizes an exposed post-tension concrete frame to span the 38' lot, leaving column-free floor plates. It stretches its north face to create a relationship with the historical arcaded structures located to the east. The building becomes a simple diagram of overlapping skins that expand or compress to "site" itself in this particular location. The interstitial spaces created become a mix of interior glass-walled "city rooms" and exterior space that also provides pedestrian protection.
